The National Institute of Health have developed a social wellness toolkit covering six areas which will help you build positive social habits and a support network which will in turn lead to an improvement in your physical and mental wellbeing.

Connect with others- through activities such as joining a hobby group, volunteering for a local service, joining a physical activity class or being more active in community groups.

Take care of yourself while caring for others- self-care strategies are key to looking after your own health whilst taking care of others. Ideas include joining support groups, set a daily routine up and ask for support from others.

Get active together- connecting with others can support you to get active and build healthy habits. Try making a shared exercise routine, you could also join a local sports club or group exercise class.

Shape your families health habits-  help your children develop a healthy lifestyle through limiting screen time, choosing healthy food and activities when together and try to make healthy activities as fun as possible.

Bond with your kids- to support their development and help them manage their emotions and develop self confidence. You can do this by using positive language, participating in their favourite activities and asking about both their concerns and future goals.

Build healthy relationships- strong healthy and supportive relationships are key to maintaining a positive wellbeing. Ideas include actively listening without judgement, setting healthy boundaries, sharing your honest feelings and not getting involved in personal conflicts.
