Wellbeing Initiatives:

  • One initiative the company have implemented to improve employees financial wellbeing is their profit sharing scheme and annual pay rises as they provide financial security, motivation and a shared sense of success.
  • They have also launched an employee appreciation initiative which fosters a supportive environment.
  • Flexible working options promote work life balance,  allow staff to prioritise their family and manage stress. MEPS have also looked at improving employee social wellbeing through organising staff events which encourage a sense of belonging and team spirit.
  • MEPS use a variety of small initiatives to boost wellbeing these include monthly wellbeing catch ups, yearly free flu injections, 35 hour week, small personal gifts, Christmas hampers/gift cards, birthday treats, Christmas and Summer parties and free tickets to Sheffield theatres.
  • Staff have a lot of autonomy to work in a way that best suits them, they get a lot of ownership over their work and are rewarded and praised for their efforts.For example they  provide staff with any training they request as they strongly believe investing in their future is also investing in MEPS future. Staff can propose projects and they will provide them with the support to go on and turn those projects into life.

  • Productivity-By investing in well-being, they have cultivated a happier, healthier workforce that translates to measurable gains in productivity. Financial bonuses drive ownership and engagement where increased financial security boosts focus. The stronger team spirit has allowed for increased problem solving, collaboration and increased output/efficiency.
  • Retention and satisfaction- In the last 12 years only one staff member has left, a remarkable 50% of current staff members have been with them for over 10 years.  Their family atmosphere, combined with their initiatives, is why staff feel valued and choose to stay with MEPS for the long term.
