A sense of belonging is crucial to boosting mental and physical wellbeing, it centres on gaining acceptance, attention and support from members of a group. The need to belong within certain groups results from perceived commonalities. Our need to belong is what motivates to seek out stable relationships and get involved in social activities like clubs, sports teams, religious groups or community organisations.
