The Fuel bank foundation have listed there 4 top tips to help you prepare for the increased fuel bills during the winter months.  

  1. Contact your energy supplier to seek support- tell them if anyone you live with has any additional needs or are vulnerable for example elderly, young children, those with long term health conditions or reliance on a constant supply of energy for medicine, equipment or other health reasons. They may be able to help you access additional financial support, adjust your payment plan or provide a discretionary credit.  
  1. Top up your prepayment meter if you can afford too- This will help you build a buffer to help you get through the winter months where you will need to use more fuel to keep your house warm.  
  1. Speak to your local council, housing provider or landlord about how your home can be made more energy efficient. You may be able to access financial support to make simple yet energy efficient changes to the property.
