Weve already spoken about how summertime can cause you stress so here is some guidance to help you recharge your batteries and have a stress free summer.
Prioritise your mental health through a summer mental health plan- the goal is to create a routine that supports your wellbeing. Make sure to include a mix of social activities, relaxation time and time to pursue your personal interests. An example might include mornings meditating, afternoons exploring nature, and evenings catching up with friends.
Detox from tech and practice mindfulness- this is a great way to give your mind a break you could try establishing a space or time where you are screen free. Other ideas include turning off your notifications, download a blue light app and taking a break from social media. Mindfulness is great for stress reduction as it calms your mind by getting you to fully focus on the current moment. Use our mental wellbeing resources to help you get started with practicing mindfulness.
Connect with nature and stay fit- outdoor activities are a great way to combine relaxation and physical activity. Try activities like hiking, gardening, kayaking or camping to boost mood, relieve stress and improve sleep.
Cultivate social connections- make an effort to cultivate social connections this summer as it will provide a sense of support and purpose. Reconnect with family and friends by planning gun activities or join new circles through social groups or clubs linked to your interests.
Self care prioritisation- take some time to recharge and replenish this summer. Self care activities can be anything that helps you relax and destress. This could be engaging with hobbies, relaxation techniques, physical activity or reading a book. Summer is also a great time to explore a new interest or hobby to boost your creativity and stimulate you. Some small steps to self care include 10 minutes of mindfulness a day, starting a gratitude journal, meditate and find a time to have a laugh and play.
