Here is some research based guidance to help you take action to boost your wellbeing this summer. The five ways of wellbeing action plan is explained below.

Connect- building connections and creating a social network will promote a sense of belonging and wellbeing. This support network will act as a buffer against mental health issues as it enables us to share our concerns.

Be active- Regular physical activity is linked with a greater sense of wellbeing and lowers rates of anxiety and depression. Getting active especially outdoors and with others will boost mood, create feelings of worth and purpose whilst also building resilience.

Take notice- be more aware of the present moment including your feelings, thoughts and the environment around you. Reflecting and savouring the moment will help you appreciate what matters to you. Being more mindful will positively change your approach to life and the challenges you face.

Keep learning- learning new skills can help give you a sense of achievement and increased confidence. Why not rediscover an old interest, try learning a new skill or set yourself a challenge.

Give- giving back to your local community through acts of kindness can be incredibly rewarding and can help you build a social support network. It can help boost feelings of self-worth.
